Using MRTG/rrd, get graphs, no lines

I've perused the forums and have found only a couple of posts regarding this issue, but need a better understanding. I am also having issues with getting lines to appear on the graphs.

I'm using a collection of MRTG-generated rrds stored on my system in /usr/local/mrtg-2/logs. I -think- that I have set up a working data source for my Cisco 2610. The rrd files for it are 192.168.1.1_1 and 192.168.1.1_4.

I added the Data Source with these properties:

Name: Cisco_2610
Internal Data Source Name: ds0
Data Source Path: /usr/local/mrtg-2/logs/192.168.1.1_1.rrd

I left the rest the default and unchecked the "Data Source Currently Active."

With this, I get the graphs but no lines are plotted. Any ideas on how to make the graphs plot? Also, what exactly do "ds0" and "ds1" do for the Internal Data Source Name?

ds0 and ds1 are what MRTG uses for the input/output sources in the RRD database. You will need to setup a seperate datasource for incoming and outgoing data.

As for missing the graph data, make sure you have a color selected for the plots. I missed this the first time around when I ran into this problem.

I recommend using internal Cacti SNMP gathering unless you need MRTG for some reason. You can then get high/current/average rates for the graphs. I haven't figured out this using MRTG generated RRDs.
