rrd's not updating

Post by xcitiman »

I accidently left debug on all night for three nights and the log file has eaten the remaining disk space. When I went ot log in to Cacti it said that there was a problem with include/config/php but I know that everything was operating fine for weeks. I've removed the large log file and have Cacti set to LOW now. How do I get the rrd's to update again?

Yes I've rebooted. It seems that not only is the CMD2RRD not beeing executed but I'm having a problem with the mysql server having too many connections.

If you have implemented the "Pconnect" recommendation, undo it. Also, are you using cactid or cmd.php?

I noticed with some other users posts that filling up a volume is bad news. It appears that there is a possibility that the RRD files themselves can become corrupted.

I suggest you utilize the unix command logrot to manage your log files. In Windows, you could simply run a weekly process to zip up the current log file and truncate the existing log. I have a simple vbs script that I use for Cisco's Campus Manager tool I would be willing to share if you are Windows.

You should also run 1 time (LOW) from the command line and see what RRD is returning for error messages. Also, please note that there is a patch for 0.8.6b that you should download. Actually involve reaching that could be crashing your poller.

You should check your poller_command table for entries. If there are entries, you should "truncate table poller_command" after implementing the fixes.

Just a question ... where do I install these patched files?? These have similar names to existing files in the Cacti directory. (data_query.php and data_queries.php in Cacti dir, etc.)

All go into the Lib folder.
