i installed the cacti 0.8.7g on my windows xp machine, But iam getting SNMP error while creating device. I checked almost all the cacti forums but the problem persists. My SNMP version is 5.5.0-1. My php.ini output is

Contents of snmp.conf are:
mibdirs C:/Net-SNMP/share/snmp/mibs
persistentDir C:/Net-SNMP/snmp/persist
tempFilePattern C:/Net-SNMP/temp/snmpdXXXXXX
Also the location C:/Net-SNMP/share/snmp/mibs exists and mibs is not empty.
My PHP version is 5.2.14
My enviornment variable settings are:
MIBDIRS->C:\php\extras\mibs;
path->C:\rrdtool;E:\cygwin\bin;C:\Net-SNMP\bin;
MIBS->ALL;
PHPRC->C:\php;
Also while creating device which snmp version should i use???

Your SNMP version will depend on what the device you are polling supports.
Have you tried an snmpwalk on the device:
snmpwalk -c public -v 2c deviceIP
Change public to what your community string is and deviceIP to the IP address of the device.

snmp error means there is something wrong with the snmp agent on the remote device. Validate it's properly configured and no firewall/acls are blocking the traffic.
