UPDATED 2010-08-21 - Spine 0.8.7g for Windows

Post by TheWitness »

All,

Please find attached the most recent spine for Windows. There are a few usage notes that you need to know before using.

1) If you have Cygwin installed, it needs to be version 1.7-5.
2) If you have Cygwin installed, you do not need either the DLL files or the sh.exe found in the archive.
3) This version spine should work just fine with Windows paths and if you combine with the script_server.php in our SVN repository, you should be able to do WMI not only in spine but through the script server.
4) If you plan on using for versions of Cacti prior to 0.8.7g, there is a new setting in spine.conf that you need to be aware of.

Please report success or failure here.

Im in the process of building for Windows. I only have little blocks of time and getting a good build environment takes time since I am all 64bit windows now.

Hi, please help. This works fine with cmd.php poller.
I tried using this spine with cacti0.8.7e (preg set to 1), at first I got a "cygz.dll is missing", copied the dll file from my other pc with cygwin installed. And got the following result when running spine :

Please use process monitor from SysInternals (now Microsoft) to 'watch' the following processes:

spine.exe, php.exe, sh.exe and attach the output.

hi, please see attached. original logfile took 100Mb. Attached is the first 50k events. Or please tell me what exactly you want to see like 'network activity' or 'file system activity'? So I can attach the whole log.
Hope this one helps. thanks!
Thanks!

1) open a command prompt
2) run 'php -v'
3) if that runs skip to step 5)
4) place c:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.9-2 in your path
5) modify you data input methods and data queries to change 'c:\wamp\bin\php\php5.2.9-2\php.exe' to 'php.exe'
6) repopulate the poller cache.

Spine should not work.

hi, both ways 'php -v' runs. Sorry, but i dont understand how to modify the path to php.exe on step 5.

I am using Get Script Data (indexed) as data input method.

here's the result of 'php -v' command:
C:\>php -v

C:\>cd wamp\bin\php\php5.2.9-2

Edit the data input methods and remove the path. Afterwords, repopulate the poller cache

The gaps will go away over time. You might want to bump up your thread count.

Re: UPDATED 2010-08-21 - Spine 0.8.7g for Windows

Post by isse »

I just replaced all the files in the spine folder and updated the spine.conf, but the poller stopped working after this, the task hangs.
If i check my event manager i get this error:
Faulting application spine.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4c6fc4a1, faulting module cygz.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005.

I dont have cygwin installed.
Any ideas of what could be wrong ?

Thanks
