Fail! Runied my Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) template
Hi All,
I've made a rookie mistake, and I'm not sure how to fix it now. I updated my Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) graph template with this one from Gandalf because I prefer the format. http://docs.cacti.net/usertemplate:grap ... ce_traffic
Failing to read directions at import time I selected "Use custom RRA settings from the template" and now when I create NEW graphs using the template I receive the message "# ERROR: no Data Source associated. Check Template" yet when looking at the template itself, I do see the data sources. All existing graphs are intact and apparently accurate.
I've setup a new cacti install, exported the default template, and re-imported using both data source import options yet the problem remains the saame. Gandalf, in his post where I downloaded the template says, "I am using company specific RRA settings and it is very likely that you won't like to override them. " but i'm not sure exactly what this means or how to go about overriding them back to defaults in order to rectify my mistake.
Any assistance in helping me undo my ID10T error would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
BJH

The only difference I saw in the data template between the one I have and the one from a new default cacti installation is that on mine, under the Data Source Item, "Maximum Value" was unchecked disallowing per-data source value where it is checked the default data template. The associated RRAs appear identical. Changing my "production" data template to match the default one still is not creating new graphs.
I see where in the data template management it says Associated RRAs are templated. Where? I assume based on the fact in your post when the template was uploaded you alluded to 'custom RRA settings' that I should be looking there, but I'm not sure where there is.
Thanks,
BJH

Re: Fail! Runied my Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) template
I cannot reproduce the issue based on the attached template. Sorry.
With 087h, we enhance the import of graph templates by predefining the rra's that shall be used based on your current settings.

Re: Fail! Runied my Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) template
I've now had this issue on 2 separate templates - in fact the only 2 templates I've created since upgrading Cacti to 0.87g and PA 2.8.
I am fully patched except for 2 patches that failed due to PA 2.8.
Not looking like a rookie mistake from my point of view! I'll do some more digging but I have the impression that the problems start when you modify a working graph template with active graphs.
