I get an error on screen telling me that I don't have the settings plugin installed when I click on the "syslog" tab, even though it is installed + working.

Same Missing Dependency error here as well. Settings version .7 installed.

Did either of your install using Plugin Management Install/Enable interface, or are you using the plugins array?

Please read. Your sylog-ng/rsyslog likely not setup correctly, or hosts are not forwarding to your Cacti host.

THX, I am running CactiEZ using Syslog-NG. I will try to locate documentation for setting that up. I used a previous version of the Syslog plugin successfully. So I thought this version would "just work"

Slight typo in syslog alerts line 349 of syslog_process.php

Code: Select all

$htmlm .= "<tr><th class='th'>Hostname</th><th class='th'>Date</th><th class='th'>Severity</th><th class='th'>Priotity</th><th cl        ass='th'>Message</th></tr>";

My OS is centos 5.5. I have installed MySQL 5.1.49 server community and client community. But I can't install php-mysql.

The shell shows the following log:
[root@localhost php.d]# yum install php-mysql
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile

* base: mirrors.163.com

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.

Does mysql server community cover php-mysql ? How can I deal with it ?

Use the noseps option. It should work.

Hi TheWitness

Just some ideas!
Could you convert host IP to host name in column Select Host(s) for easy monitor?

best regard

That's a syslog-ng/rsyslog config option. You will have to update the syslog_hosts afterwards. There is currently no conversion utility. You will have to time it right, or you will be stuck with IP's for a while.

> That's a syslog-ng/rsyslog config option

For syslog-ng:

Code: Select all

use_dns (yes);
OR

Code: Select all

use_dns (persist_only);  # use local file only
dns_cache_hosts (/etc/hosts); # or your own conversion list like /etc/hosts
The latter is recommended.
1) Responses will be retarded when DNS server is down
2) If DNS caching was not tuned properly, it strain to the DNS server when log was sent from many hosts

- Using name resolution in syslog-ng
- Global syslog-ng options

I don't know how to do for rsyslog, sorry.

Thanks for the informative post noname. We need a contrib on the docs site for syslog-ng. Would you like to author it?
