it almost looks like the agent is not installed on your system then :)

lets start from scratch (provided you have a win32 system) :

-make sure you have merged the following reg file

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\ExtensionAgents]
"snmptools"="SOFTWARE\\snmptools\\CurrentVersion"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\snmptools\currentversion]
"Pathname"="%systemroot%\\system32\\snmptools.dll"
"debug"="1"
"counters"="c:\\counters.ini"

-make sure the dll is in c:\windows\system32

-make sure you have a c:\counters.ini

-stop/start windows snmp daemon

at that point you should have a c:\log.txt and oid 1.3.6.1.4.1.15 should work.

File - Check
All Registry Entries - Check
counters.ini - Check

Made sure the SNMP Service is correctly set. and restarted

Checked write permission within c:\ - ok.

Same error. No debug.

very strange, for some unknown reasons (yet), it seems the dll/agent is not being loaded by the snmp daemon.

was it working before?

any error in your system windows events?

Good Call

The SNMP Service is ignoring extension agent dll C:\Windows\system32\snmptools.dll because it is missing or misconfigured.

File is present and I've re-copied another over.

I have seen that before : the dll could have been corrupted in the zip file.

I have re uploaded a new zip file.
And now the agent will also write to the application windows events with the following information : "SnmpExtensionInit" meaning the dll has loaded fine in memory.

Downloaded again, copied over, redid the .reg, edited the registry to enable debug. restarted snmp

Windows Server 2008 Standard, 64bit.

Im using the normal snmptools.dll though.

Works on all other servers except the domain controller. UAC is off too.

oki I get it.
very simple, use the other reg file regagentWow6432.reg and put the dll in c:\windows.

then, you can use the 32bits dll in 64bits O.S.
(dont bother yet with the full 64bits dll, does not fully work yet).

let me know if it works.

see here : http://erwan.labalec.fr/snmptools/body.html#64bits

I made installers to make it easy for those who do not wish to mess with files and registry :

Download (32bits installer) http://erwan.labalec.fr/snmptools/snmptools32.exe

Download (64bits installer) http://erwan.labalec.fr/snmptools/snmptools64.exe

It seems I can't walk into .15 from 1.3.6.1.4.1. Is there a way I can get that to work?
