WLS instances devices status turn from Up to Down

Post by Sasake »

Hello,

It's that 14 WLS instances devices on the same host but always totally 5 or 6 devices could be in the Up status, others were in the Down status.

ex: At first, I disable all devices (let 14 devices are in disabledstatus),
then I enable some devices on by one...
when I disable the 6th or more, disabled status was appeared...

I got such log when device downed..

Code: Select all

CACTID: Poller[0] Host[492] ERROR: HOST EVENT: Host is DOWN Message:Host did not respond to SNMP, UDP: Ping timed out

It seems some problems occurred with ping, I had searched related articleand reset "Spine Specific Execution Parameters" of poller on the consolesettings, some devices still got down status.

Now I used spine poller type with Downed Host Detection = "Ping & SNMP",Ping Type ="UDP Ping", Ping Timeout Value = "400" and Ping Retry Count ="4".

Maybe any other reason cause it ?
Any suggesstion and reply are appreciated.
Thank you.
:)

Is the device really reachable via SNMP and UDP ping when cacti says it's not?

Why are you still using cactid? What cacti version you using?

I typically use SNMP if I'm using SNMP for the device. Otherwise, I use ICMP, but you have to set permissions on the spine binary properly first:

Code: Select all

chmod 755 spine
chown root:root spine
chmod +s spine

Many thanks for your reply.

for BSOD2600 sir,
1. If I enable just only any one of the 14 devices, the status always shows up. In fact, I am not very sure that ping is ok especially via SNMP..., I always just use "ping" command to check. For this, I will try more..

2. You means the cactid/spine? Sorry that I don't understand the cactid means what is. (learnING..)

3. version 0.8.7b is but I am not the installer.
many thanks for your indication.

for TheWitness sir,
Maybe I should try to get the root privilege to change mode/owner (but it's hard for me) and poll again...
many thanks for your indication.

Cacti 0.8.7g is the latest along with the SPINE poller. Cactid was the old poller (which was renamed to spine).
