Problem following FAQ on traffic graphs

FAQ has section on making traffic graphs but after step 5, when it says I should see interfaces, I dont.

"This data query returned 0 rows, perhaps there was a problem executing this data query. You can run this data query in debug mode to get more information"

So, I click on that link.

I set hostname to 127.0.0.1 (since I needs to track traffic on localhost), Downed Device Detection SNMP, SNMP Version 2, SNMP Community "public"...

I really didnt change anything since installing snmpd (and I did check to see its installed, it is)

If anybody has any tips on how to do this, I would be really grateful, two weeks I've been trying to make traffic graphs without luck

Did you restart the snmpd daemon? after the creation of your snmpd.conf file ?

Sorry for late answer, long day at work.

I did not make snmpd.conf file, but when looking for it I found it already exists with default values (like "public" community and so). And although I restart the computer in the meantime (due to unrelated problems), I also just now restarted the snmpd.

No change, everything is same as before.

btw, here's what it says at the top of the Device edit page:

I had the same issue when using the supplied snmpd.conf. I made a backup of the file and created the simple 6-line .conf file from the installation instructions. I can run each of the examples listed and get results.

So, somewhere in the snmpd.conf file is the answer.

Thanks bmote, I used your example (only changed last two lines) and looks like its working now.

Implementing what I gleaned from the documentation, and provided above, is a very "open" configuration. Anyone with UDP access to the box can read it's SNMP values.

Eventually I'll dig through the snmpd.conf file to understand why the network interfaces weren't being returned, but I suspect it has something to do with a setting early on that says to only reveal the "system" MIB tree data.
