I installed Cacti yesterday. and wow. I'm very impressed! Thanks for the great product. I'm just learning how to use it, and I'm also new to RRD... =)

I know there is a sample CDEF for doing this conversion, but I dont understand how to apply it. I've added all my graphs from the "SNMP Interfaces" section. They are producing nice graphs in Bytes.

The procedure that I used was to go into "graphs" under "graph setup" and choose "edit graph items" for the graph that I want to convert. They normally have Item #1 through Item #8. I click on each of the links for 1 through 8 and change "CDEF" function to "Turn bytes to bits" and save.

Is this the correct procedure? Or is there a way to appy this globally. I'd like to have all my graphs for network in Bits instead of bytes.

Thanks in advance for helping someone new...

Yes, you appear to be applying the CDEF correctly. From the beginning, I made it so you had to add the CDEF to each graph item separatly because many times you do not want one CDEF applied to an entire graph. In your case, I can see why this would be a useful feature though.

I will try and impliment this feature, if there is a good way of doing it.

I agree.

I'm doing the same for 60 wan links (60 * 8 CDEF changes).

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and did a quick SQL query to update all the CDEF's that I needed and had it change the CDEF from '0' to '2' and the field 'bytes per second' to 'bits per second'.
