The red X issue was why this did not make it into SVN. This is because, although I was able to fix the UI, I was unable to fix the command line (with or without boost).

First of all, please keep in mind that earlier boost (2.x, 3.x) versions are not compatible with 0.8.7g. Second, if you continue to have this issue, please run first the poller from the command prompt, and then boost (make sure you are on 4.2).

Code: Select all

php -q poller.php --force

Code: Select all

php -q poller_boost.php --force

Ok... here's my testing so far:

1) Started fresh with a new 87g install, spine, etc....
2) Running on SLES 10.2 64bit mysql 5.1.31, rrdtool 1.4.4, php 5.2.5 w/ suhosin patch.

Results;

Fresh install, no PIA: Works fine with both cmd.php and spine poller

Added PIA: Still works fine

Added Realtime .4 Plugin: Main app still works, but Realtime does not. This plugin obviously needs to be updated for 87g. I uninstalled this plugin.

I noticed that boost 4.2 has been 'released' but the link on the docs site doesn't work, so I proceeded to install boost 4.0-1:

Nothing updates any more... no SQL errors however, and I have not put in the database patch provided.

I have forced the RRD updates with "php -q poller_boost.php --force" and disabled the direct population of the poller_output_boost table.

I'm stuck here untill the 4.2 boost download link is fixed.

I'm beginnig to wonder if the realtime plugin changed something and broke something??

Ok...even with Boost 4.2 I'm not getting any updates on the graphs.

Seems to be something strange going on here...I'm going to backtrack again to a fresh install, and then install the PIA and JUST Boost (skipping the Realtime Plugin) to see of that fixes it.

Everything in the logs says it's updating;

07/27/2010 04:42:01 PM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:0.2316 Method:spine Processes:1 Threads:1 Hosts:2 HostsPerProcess:2 DataSources:1 RRDsProcessed:0

2010:07:27 16:42:59 - RRD Command 'update /data/cacti/rra/localhost_proc_7.rrd --template proc 1280274121:148'
2010:07:27 16:43:00 - RRDUpdate OK Message: 'OK'
2010:07:27 16:43:00 - Host Disconnect Request Received. '127.0.0.1'

but still nothing on the graphs, just a bunch of nan's.

I just checked again, after about 30 minutes the graphs started updating again. Maybe something was stuck in the cache....

On to the next step, to find where the problem is. it's possible that this version of boost has resolved the issue.
