Clone Template and Collection

Post by alebrz »

Hello guys,

I´d like to suggest the capability for cloning template and collection methods.
When you are creating your own template or data query, for example, many times you have to see others settings from existent templates or data queries.
I think if you could rely on existent settings your apprenticeship creating templates and cacti navigation will be better.
What do you think ?

I'm not sure what you are getting at.

What are you looking for that the 'duplicate' and 'export/import' functions of Cacti do not provide?

Well, my trouble was when i was creating template/data query for capture snmp data from SAN/FibreChannel switches.
Today using Cacti I can collect snmp data about ethernet switches interfaces. When I was creating my own template/data query, I saw how analogous is cacti template /data query and my own template/data query. So, I think if I could clone cacti template/data query, I´d spend less time to create the template/data query.
For example, if there was a button called "clone" on cacti template screen, I could save my own template changing necessary values.

Clone means duplicate, which cacti already provides for templates.
