address listed under wrong interface when Cacti polls router

Post by Frothingdog »

Have a OpenBSD 4.5 router that when I go to create the router in Cacti using the GENERIC-TEMPLATE (or even CISCO ROUTER template) it shows all the interfaces and the address', but the address show up on the wrong interfaces. See pic:

Any ideas.

First: Do an SNMPWALK and check the Results by yourself.
(snmpwalk -v2c -c PUBLICWHATEVER IP_OR_HOSTNAME)

Compare the Results with the Cacti Results (setting Logging on Medium or High to see Results.) (General Settings Logging)

The error could also be a bad snmp agent on your box or a changed indexing (reindex or verbose query the box from your cacti console device view).

The hints are all correct, but I want to add another one: You may want to reduce the MAX OID setting to 1 to suppress special types of errors introduced by some badly written agents
