Template based creation of graphs creates redundant data sou

Post by steffenw »

Hello,

I've created a quite complex data source with 35 entries. All these data do come from one and the same Data Input Method at once.

Furthermore I've created some graphics which reference some of these data. Graphic template and Data Template are bundled together as an Host template. So if I assign a host to this host template all graphics are generated. But also a lot of data sources are generated. For each graph it's own datasource.
Looking at the logfile brings me to the assumption, that each time a graph is updated the data input query is executed several times (for each RRA). But this leads to an traffic overhead that is not wanted.

Are there any ways to prevent CACTI to behave like this? Is the a small SQL script around which can fixe this problem?

Thanks in advance for your investigations.

Basically you have to manually create the graphs and point each one back to the single data source template you're using. Otherwise as you've seen, each data template will run the associated script for itself.
