Graph difference from last run instead of total?

Post by Cope »

Hi,

I am using a Perl script to logon to some equipment and get some data. In this case it is a number that is increasing..

As you can see from the attached graph, the graph shows this number - or the average, instead of just of showing "difference from previous poll to this poll" just like a traffic graph.

You know what I mean? How can I make it do that?

Best regards

You must use a counter instead of a gauge in your data template.

Any ideas how to make it graph correctly instead of just increasing and increasing?

you should re-create rrd file also

Change source data type to COUNTER and remove corresponding RRD file, cacti will re-create it (or change type from GAUGE to COUNTER in it with rrdtool what is a bit complicated)

I already changed it from GAUGE to COUNTER.. But didn't know that I had to delete the RRD file too, to make the changes apply.

It's done now, and it's working.. thanks a lot both! :D
