hi all,
i am having some difficulty understanding how the configmanager plugin works. i understand there are two methods, the tftp method and the ssh type method.
does anyone have a working setup on a linux machine that is willing to help? i really dont understand how you are able to backup configs via SSH. do you issue a show run command, and get cacti to copy the output to a text file? i am baffled!
i have openssh installed on the linux box.
ssh is the preferred option because it gives you the option of doing this over the WWW encrypted.
the devices i wish to back up are cisco switches, routers and ASAs and anything else.
my setup is ubuntu 7.10 PPC gutsy.
i have looked in the plugin "manage configs" menu, but im really not sure what commands to type in there. and i dont think the templates are suited for the purpose i specified above.
i configured an ASA to backup, and hoped that the log file would fill with errors and i could go from there, but i didnt even get a single log. in the cacti log, i can see the configmanager_poller.php run but thats it!
where am i going wrong?
many thanks for your help!
