About cacti limitation of data sources.

Post by ses0sj »

Hi. I have question about cacti limitation.

my server spec is:

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz * 8
Mem: 2010

and cacti version is 0.8.7d.

Now, my cacti gathering 16500 data sources every 5 min.
Is it possible to run about 20000 data sources?

Plz. give me some opinion. very Thanks~:)

This is possible, but you should consider BOOST if you are not running this already.

You should also look at the logs to see how long your 16500 sources are taking. If it's nearly 300 seconds, then you will need to do some optimising first.

Also, search the forums for Gandalf's excellent Poller Statistics template, so you can see how your perfomance changes over time, from within Cacti.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)
