Does anyone know if it is possible to dynamically generate graphs for any given data source using specific time periods?
ex. - lets say I want to know what the average traffic load on a WAN backbone link is but I only want to know the average during normal business hours. Is there any way to generate a graph (and thus the MIN/MAX/AVG stats at the bottom of the graph) for data collected between say 7am and 6pm, excluding the other 13 low-traffic hours of the day?
btw- I have been looking a long time for a comprehensive web-based front end for RRDTool and Cacti fits the bill perfectly ! raX - Keep up the great work.

Actually, I think we had decided to put off the ability to create ad-hoc graphs based on existing graphs until after 0.8. We've got our hands full with the changes that are already planned and you've got to draw the 'feature' line somewhere or you'll never release.
But yes, that capability is one of the many that we've already discussed. If you don't see more about that after 0.8 please feel free to remind us.

Business Time
I dragged this up from what looks like a long time ago!
Is there any more interest in being able to have RRD / Cacti choose to display it's averages and times based on business time? Say - showing 7am to 7pm and having the additional weekly, monthly, yearly graphs take such a reduction in data into account? I'd still like to see all of the data if I wanted to... But sometimes "others" want to see averages of data within daytime hours...
Thanks!

Very interesting
This feature would be really great for our organisation. The performance analysis guys would be very pleased to see this feature !
Like the previous posts said having separate graphs for business hours/ weekends/holidays would really help some of us !
thx!

Not to deter you from cacti, but have a look at routers2.cgi. It yellows in on the graph during working days, and gives you an average below for just those working times. It's not nearly in the same ballpark as cacti, but does have those great working day averages and exporting to a CSV.

Any of you know if this feature will soon be integrated in Cacti ?
