Hi,
i need to do some statistical stuff on my rrd files, but i´m unsure how to handle the data inside the rrd. When i do an rrdtool fetch xyz.rrd MAX i get the following:
1275902100: 7.6682713333e+02 2.7839303111e+03
1275902400: 4.6174380970e+03 6.2766681874e+03
1275902700: 1.6552061522e+03 3.1224085855e+03
First part is the time stamp. The 2nd and 3rd inbound and outbound traffic. But i don´t get what the numbers really show. Is it the difference from the last measurement to now ?
My aim is to to find interfaces which exceed a specified amount of traffic. For example ports that have exceeded 50mbit in the last 30 days. I´d like to write a perl script which will show me the affected ports.
I apologise if this topic has already been discussed somewhere else in the forums.

Hi,
thanks for the hint to that plugin. Will give it a try on my test machine. Our production machine is bit outdated so i´m not able to install it there.
Still i would like to know what exactly the fields in the rrd file describe to implement my "dirty hack" with perl. Or atleast if its possible to do what i want with the rrd files ?
