theoretical problem ...

Post by dalluc »

Hi guys... one question:

I premise that my Cacti installation is working fine; I can see graphs, but I cannot understund how one aspect of the poller works.
I have setted both the poller interval and the cron interval to 5 minutes and I am creating for each data sources the following archives: Hourly (1 minute average), daily (5 minutes average), weekly (30 minutes average), montly (2 hours average) and yearly (1 day average).
For all the archives averaging on time intervals greater or equal than 5 minutes it's ok.

My problem is to understund how the one hour storage with 1 minute average is working. I am wondering where it takes the data between the first and the fifth minute's samples. Anyway I have noted that the graph variations happen at 5 minutes intervals, so, what's happening?

I am waiting for you
Thank you in advance
Regards
Dalluc

This is purely rrdtool. It's manual covers these types of questions -- look into the man pages for 'rrdtool create'
