How do I move an interface graph, or reorder graphs?

Post by cypherx »

On our Cisco core's, there's lots of interfaces that are being monitored. I'd like to move the Port Channel interfaces to the first page so that I don't have to click on the last page of that host device in our Graph Tree to see that info.

It's easy to reorganize the Graph Tree, but I'm talking about the individual interface graphs.

So it's like:
Po1 Po2
Po3 Po4
Gi1/0/1 Gi 1/0/2
Gi1/0/3 Gi 1/0/4

Right now it defaults to all the FastEthernet interfaces, then Gig Ethernet Interfaces, then finally Port Channel interfaces.

Thanks, I might just be missing something stupid.

The only way to do this currently is to manually add each graph to a subtree and use manual ordering. If you add just the 'device', you cannot use fine-grained controls for graph ordering, you can only choose to order by template or data query.

Please see http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:2_basi ... graph_tree for the sort orders available today

Thanks for the help. I was starting to think that was the only way.

I think what I'll end up doing is putting my favorite higher bandwidth graphs in it's own place in the graph tree. Then I can keep the Portchannel interfaces that are important to me near the top of the tree.

Would be cool to see a plugin or future update for some sorting options within the device. At least there are good workarounds for now.

AUTOM8 will accept rules to e.g. place specific graphs into specific branches.
If you have more ideas for algorithmic placing, please fell free to post patches
