Cacti only shows up to 100 Meg

Post by adrian »

hi,

I am using Cacti on a Network that is 1 GIG but the Reports for traffic do not go above 100 meg.

THe network has traffic spikes of 400- 500 meg.

is there a Limitation to Cacti for displaying above 100 meg peaks?

This is not a limitation within Cacti but with 32-bit SNMP v1 counters. Try using the 64-bit SNMP v2 counter and that should take care of this problem.

guerra6880,

Do you know if this feature documented in any way? I tried to create a custom graph in cacti with the 64-bit counters, but it didn't work too well... I'd love to see a howto on this topic :)

I don't know if there is any documentation but you should not have to do anything terribly special. When you are creating your data sources from within the devices pages just to go the bottom of the page and select "In/Out Bits (64-bit Counters)" and then select the interfaces that you would like to graph with 64-bit counters. If you would like verify that it have been created correct go to the data sources tree and open the date source that you would like to examine and verify that the Output ID type is "In/Out Bits (64-bit counters)" (See attached pic)

You can use the standard Interface Traffic Graph Template, or build a custom one if you choose.

Hope that helps.

Ah...

I though you had to create new queries, templates, and so on. This was almost too easy :D Thanks for bearing with me!
