Hello.
Relevant technical details:
Running...
Cacti Version 0.8.7d
Cacti OS unix
SNMP Version NET-SNMP version: 5.4.1
RRDTool Version RRDTool 1.3.x
Adding the switch to cacti results in the infamous RED "SNMP error". In searching through the forms I can't find anything addressing this specifically for snmpv3 hosts. Then again it was a late night for some of this switch gear I'm wanting to monitor - having all sorts of issues and was up late fixing various issues. I sincerely appreciate any thoughts/insight.
As far as things I've done...
Initially I had a snmpv3 user with a md5 password, no priv. I also placed the user in an operator auth group. After playing a bit with no success, I decided to remove the password and placed the user in an operator noauth group. Running snmpwalk from the cli from the cacti host will work just fine.
I'm not finding a log file for cacti or its use of the poller anywhere to run a 'tail -f' on, but would be glad to do this if someone knows where to point it to. (nothing seen in /var/log/cacti/poller-error.log)
Thanks again folks for any help/insight.
Regards,
yazik
Unable to poll snmpv3 enabled HP ProCurve switch

Thanks. I've been working through that after seeing it posted for other 'snmp error' issues. Nothing there resolves the issue.
snmpv3 is running on HP Procurve switches (5400/8200 models).
Cacti is running on Ubuntu 9.10.
At this point I'm almost willing to compromise and bump snmpv3 down to v2. (which does work)
If the mix of Procurve + Ubuntu + cacti + snmpv3 is the issue, we'll just move on with v2.
Thanks!
