Search your system for fcgiext.ini. How many copies do you have and where do they reside? Is the contents of the files the same?

As for rrd files, go to graph management, click on a graph and enable graph debugging. Whats the error? Also follow http://docs.cacti.net/manual:088:4_help.2_debugging
I have 2 of them one in c:\windows\system32\inetsrv and the size is 8 KB and the other one in C:\windows\SysWOW64\inetsrv size 1 KB.
The error as I said before is about the rrd creation.....I don't know if is an NTFS permission denied (but I don't think) or some other stuff.
Tomorrow I'll try to debug the RRD issue.

Alessio

Hi BSOD2600

I used your windows installer on 2 machines, one is a VM running windows XP SP3 and my physical machine which is running Windows 7. Now, the problem that I've encountered was this, when I run Cacti on WinXP and create a graph it has an option on the graph template to monitor the disk usage but on the other machine (Win7) the disk usage graph template isn't showing. Is this some sort of a bug?

And one more thing, the scheduled task for Cacti was not created on Windows 7.

Thanks,

1) Do you mean the created graph for a drive disk usage isn't appearing, or the whole template/script for snmp disk usage is missing? If the former, then turn on graph debugging and see what the error is. try increasing the snmp timeout for that device.

2) please attach the cacti-installer.log for me to review. Odd the task didn't get created since it works fine on Vista and they basically use the same methods. I assume you know the scheduled tasks have moved locations from 2003...

I hope we're on the same page here about the graph that you're referring to. But, anyway, to make it clear. The graph template that I'm referring is called the "HostMIB-disk usage" graph, it is available on the XP machine but not on Win7. Is there a difference between that "HostMIB-disk usage" graph and the graph that is being used to monitor the HD's on a unit?

About the debugging, yes I turn it on and it gives no errors as signified by the "ok" result.

I uninstalled cacti and reinstalled it again but nevertheless, I'm still attaching the log. About the task location, I'm not aware of that, because I'm still looking at the scheduled tasks on C:\WINDOWS\tasks. What is the new location?

=====

Another question again, is there a way to make the graph move in realtime?

Thanks,

1) a host template is nothing more than a logical grouping of templates/scripts. as all windows versions use the same basic snmp templates, the ones that work on xp should work on win7.

2) uninstalling and reinstalling will possibly yield a different end result and thus installer log. With this 2nd install, do you have the same problems?

3) Scheduled tasks since Vista have been moved. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 51678.aspx

4) There are no 'realtime' graphs with cacti, unless you install the realtime plugin. It won't scale to hundreds of devices...

edstephan: I see you used the installer on a system that already had Cacti installed. Not ideal since it will NOT overwrite an existing cacti database for safety. You really created dozens of devices and hundreds of graphs w/o checking if your installation was functional first??

Please follow http://docs.cacti.net/manual:088:4_help.2_debugging

I backed the DB to a .sql file, ran the uninstall of the older version, restarted the system, Installed the new version, then restored the .sql file

Thanks

php and weathermap issue

Post by Andrewv »

BSOD; the installer is great, fantastic work. about 15 minutes after running the exe i had cacti running and graphing. Thanks for your hard work.

I'm struglling to get weathermaps working though. I have read the documents mentioned at the beging of this thread and I'm happy everything is as the docs require. I have run the WM check.php and it has a path for the php.ini of C:\Windows and also fails on gd library.

I have compared the php.ini file to one on another server i have that is also running cacti and weathermaps. The working ini file has the line "extension=php_gd2.dll" which doesn't show in the newly installed server's php.ini. Also looking at the directory C:\php\ext I have four dlls (ldap, mysql, snmp, sockets) where as the other server has about 30 dlls. it is running an older version of php though.

I'm fairly certain the problem is to do with php and was thinking about downloading and re-installing it "over the top". Is this the best next step? Or can I enable the GD ext in the ini I have (if so where do I get the dll from?). I have attached the installer log, tec support info and the phpinfo results if it helps. It is an untouched new install.

Thanks

Andy

Andrewv: I've been meaning to release an updated installer, which will install those extra needed PHP extensions. Life takes priority over the Cacti hobby though... Anyways, go to php.net website and download the php 5.2.xx full zip file. Inside, you'll find the missing gd2 and other extensions. Place them into your c:\php\ext folder, enable them in php.ini, and restart the web service.

noizpgt:
Did you restart the server after running the installer?
Did you follow the post-installation steps?

from the cacti.log, appears all is working fine... except for possibly NTFS permissions on C:/Apache2/htdocs/cacti/rra/
