[solved] Problem with Cacti and php mibs directory

Post by sca043 »

Hello, we have a problem with the new version of PHP. Cacti require php and the mibs files to use the snmp protocol. We update php 5.2.4 to 5.3.2 but we dont find any directory named mibs on the new zip file version of php. We need them for cacti. Anyone have idea of where we can find the mibs directory of this new version of php or how we can bypass mibs by using another way to get out?

Thanks

Cacti doesn't need mib files.

(but the mibs directory is part of net-snmp, not php - try /usr/share/snmp/mibs)
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Hi Howie, thanks for your reply but we are on Windows, not on Linux and we dont use net-snmp. In the past we really found mibs directory in php zip install file over c:\php\extras\mibs\*. Now, where can i find this directory..?

Well, press F3 and type in 'mibs'? But Cacti doesn't use the mib files, still.

1) cacti 0.8.7 really doesn't work with php 5.3. Go back to 5.2.x

2) php installer should've placed the basic set of MIB files on your system, if you told it to install the php_snmp module. due to legacy reasons (which are now fixed in the upcoming php 5.3.x install, thanks to TheWitness) they're placed in C:\USR\. Feel free to move then to where ever you want... or download the php zip file, since they're in there too.

3) Net-snmp is required if you need to do snmpv3 queries on Windows with php 5.2.

Thanks for all BSOD2600. For now, we use snmp v2 so we dont need net-snmp.
