[SOLVED] Status error HP Procurve 2900

Post by taarka »

Hello,

I have a problem with MACTRACK into CactiEZ.
I have an HP Procurve 2900.

Into devices setting, I have "status" in Error.

Into devices type setting [HP PRocurve type" ==>

Device Type = switch/hub
System Description Match = HP Procurve
Vendor snmp Object ID Match = "empty"
MAC Address Scanning Function = "get_generic_switch_ports"
IP adress scanning = Not applicable switch-hub
Serial Number Base OID = "empty"
Serial Number Collection Method = SNMPget
Low User Port Number = 0
High User Port Number = 0

Excuse me for my english.

Thanks for your help !

For the device id in question run the collector by hand. If you run:

Code: Select all

php -q scanner.php --help
You should get more info. Run in debug. It is likely that the device is not being detected from the device types table correctly.

Thanks for your help :)

Code: Select all

[root@MyCacti mactrack]# php -q mactrack_scanner.php -id=2 -d DEBUG: ERROR: Device with Id of '2' not found in database. Can not continue.
[root@MyCacti mactrack]# php -q mactrack_scanner.php -id=1 -d
DEBUG: ERROR: Device with Id of '1' not found in database. Can not continue.

I thing I don't understand what is the "id".

Id is the site ?
Id is the Devices hostname ? (in Device tracking management)
Id is ID in Management devices ?

When I create a new Mac Track Devices I used this setting ==>

Device Name ==> HP PRocurve SPARE
Hostname ==> IP
Scan type ==> Switch/hub
Site Name ==> Mysite

Good ? :roll:

Device id from mac_track_devices table. Although maybe the device type id is missing. Gandolf is preparing a release. PM him on this.

OK it's not a setting problem. You think if I have another switch, like Cisco, I will have no problem! no ?

MacTrack works fine for more switches. Sometimes it's simply finding the right scanning function. Other times, it's all about writing a new one. You have to be familiar with the OID structure provided by the switch manufacturer in order to decide.
