I've been having issues getting even the snmpd part working.

Atm the moment I got it like this:
snmpd.conf
exec exim4 /etc/snmp/exim_perf.pl

When I try it out:
snmpwalk -v 1 -c mycommunity localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.8
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extIndex.1 = INTEGER: 1
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extNames.1 = STRING: exim4
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extCommand.1 = STRING: /etc/snmp/exim_perf.pl
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extResult.1 = INTEGER: 13
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extOutput.1 = STRING: Died at /etc/snmp/exim_perf.pl line 91.
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extErrFix.1 = INTEGER: noError(0)
UCD-SNMP-MIB::extErrFixCmd.1 = STRING:

Seems like it's unable to open the log file (which is what line 91 does).
But I'm unsure, changing permission doesn't affect this.
I've tried different solutions, include different commands instead of exec.
Some yielded more result, but in the end didn't work out.

That's what I've found as well. I don't know exactly what the scoop is but I've spent hours on end working on getting this working and have since abandoned it and Cacti for the time being.

I like the overall software package but it boils down to either it is functional for what I need or it isn't. Unfortunately until something usable for Exim comes about it isn't =\.

I'd love to get it going but I apparently do not have the needed expertise required to make that happen. Maybe some day.

Monitoring exim with cacti via snmp

But ended up with an error no matter what I do or how I set it up that I can't seem to get around.
Either way any assistance with getting this script (or one that does the equivalent) up and running would be greatly appreciated.
I adapted the script to grab more variables and built a couple of different host templates to work with it. I added some detail to the README, it should help with configuration questions. I am a cacti newbie though, so if there is anything that I could do better, please do let me know.

Probably your Cacti's version is earlier than 0.8.7g.
