Upgraded to 0.86a Now cannot make new Graphs

Post by stoopinc »

I have upgraded to the lastest version of cacti. All of the graphs that were in my configuration before are updating fine. When I goto add a new device then add snmp -Interface stats Query to the divice I can pick what interfaces to graph. Cacti then returns a graph created message but there is never a data source created. I am using php 4.3.8-12. Is anyone else having this error?

Check for the existance of multiple data sources for the host you had affected. Also, did you update ALL the files in the Cacti directory? There was a fix to a javascript files that was supposed to have corrected this.

It is called <webroot>/cacti/include/layout.js

You still will have to delete the duplicate Data Sources though

This happened to me as well. The quick fix was to drop the mysql database for cacti, and set it back up / restore from a backup.

Thats kinda drastic, but it worked in my instance.

The layout.js does exist in the include directory. I looked for duplicate data sources but in my case there was no Data Sources listed for the device that I created and added the SNMP Interfaces Stats query to. Maybe the fix made it so no DataSources were created?

stoopinc,

Did you download the latest pre-release of 0.8.6a? from http://www.cacti.net/downloads/beta If not, please download the September 21st version. I am also concerned that you do not see the layout.js in your include directory.

I have installed the lastest pre-release of 0.8.6a. I have the layout.js in my include directory. But cacti doesn't seem to want to make new Data Sources for me.

Thanks

Can you conference using NetMeeting to show me what is going on? I have an open port that you could come into and show your desktop?

Data Sources not being created.

Post by kenth »

I'm seeing this same problem with both 0.8.6, and 0.8.6a.

No duplicate data sources that I see, but if I create a new device, create graphics for it, the data sources aren't being created. If i try to add on manually it shows up but not really correctly and the graphs never work.

Maybe I'll try dropping the database and restoring it from a backup as well to see if that works. It will be a day or two though.

I have been having the same problem but from what I have seen it is related to the data template issue in the original 0.8.6 version. Try refering to TheWitness's post, linked below, to try and resolve the issue that you have been having.

TheWitness or Rax correct me if I am wrong or this.
