Tweaking Graph template to show interface number of a switch

I'm using the "Interface - Traffic (bits/sec)" graph template to graph the ports on a switch. I want the graph titles to using the following format to show the port#:

|host_description| - Traffic - Port |query_ifIndex|

However, if I put the above line in the template, the graph comes out with a title like the following:

Switch1 - Traffic - GigabitEthernet

I even tried duplicating the graph template, but nothing seems to work. If I go into the individual graphs, I can put the correct line from above in and get the desired results each time, so it is working. However, I don't want to have to do this each time to each port...

ifDescription if you want "Gigabit 1/2"
ifAlias if you want the description.

or even both if you want both.
and cisco uses IfName for things like Gi2/3
and ifalias for the if descriptions :-)

i normally use:
|host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| (|query_ifAlias|)

reslting in:
switchname - Traffic - Gix/y (portdescription)

The first string that I entered is what I want. If I edit an individual graph, it comes out exactly how I want it. HOWEVER, when I put that line in a graph template, it doesn't give me the correct output (gives the 2nd line I listed)
