[solve]Spine polling issue - Problems parsing Multi SNMP OID

Post by csherry »

I am having issues since I upgraded/migrated from 0.8.6i to 0.8.7e. I have had a couple hosts throw the following error:

SPINE: Poller[0] Host[566] Description[] ERROR: Problems parsing Multi SNMP OID! (oid: .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.147.1.2.2.2.1.5.40.6 ), Set MAX_OIDS to 1 for this host to isolate bad OID

From my research I found that there was a bug in spine that keep it from dealing with whitespace in an OID. Every instance I have of this error seems to come from OIDs entered with trailing whitespace. You can see it in the error as well. It's my understanding that this was fixed prior to 0.8.7e. So why am I still running into it?

The only way around this I have found is to fix the OID in the data template, delete the data source, and then start over. I'd like to avoid that if possible ie retaining the historical data.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Chris.

There is already a bug id on this, 0001147. Says it was fixed in 0.8.7c?

Did you try clearing the polling cache? That should've done it after you removed the space.

Also, 'historical data' is stored in the *.rrd files. Note which rrd file goes for each data source (if you still decide to delete them), then manually put them back in once the new ones are created.

Clearing the SNMP didn't fix the issue. I ended up deleting the devices and started over.

Thanks,

Chris.
