Graphing or Monitoring by RACK

Post by willdej »

Hi all

I have the monitor plugin installed and like it a bunch. I have most of my servers monitored by the department they serve. I was thinking I would also like to be able to group by Rack that the device is in. Then I was thinking it would be great if I could create a Graph Tree that was named after a Rack. Then add 1 graph for each device I have in the rack just so I can look quickly and see that all the devices are back up and running. I would use this after we do scheduled downtime where everything in a rack was off. I plan on spending the next few weekends re cabling all of our racks. What would be the best graph to use for something like this. The servers all perform a variety of task so I was thinking something that graphed ping and snnp response time. I am just looking for ideas right now. I have 13 Racks with about 22 devices in each.

You can create a graph tree to represent what you speak of.

Graph Tree

Post by willdej »

Can I create the tree to show me if the Host is up or down. Right now I am creating Graph Trees and choosing a windows service and graphing that for each host. I was thinking that I may be doing it a round about or less then ideal way.

will > Howie's weathermap plug-in may be worth looking into to do what you need... from the base description you have, I think it should be doable with a weathermap. If you want further assistance setting it up, shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can help.
