[solved] monitoring a windows7 box

Post by Tikker »

I've had cacti up and running for several years now, and it's saved me a ton of money on upgrades in that time! (amazing how when you can see actual hardware usage you just can't justify adding more whizbang)

long story short, I upgraded one of my HTPC's to windows 7
I turned on SNMP exactly as I have for all my other boxes, but cacti is unable to see the windows7 machine

I did a couple of quick searches but didn't find anything relevant (as this is fairly broad)

I'm hoping I've just missed something simple

also running getif, I do not get any snmp response from my win7 box, so I'm assuming I just missed something there

any hints would be much appreciated

My guess is the windows firewall needs holes for snmp - udp 161.

i've actually got the windows firewall right off. I'm really at a loss as to what else to look at

obviously it's 100% not a cacti issue (getif not getting response either)

just hoping someone has found a gotcha

Forget to configure the windows snmp agent? allowed hosts and a RO community?
