Hi,
I've got a Data Query that gets data from our Cisco MDS SAN Directors and this includes port throughput (i.e. MB/sec) AND port status (i.e Up or Down) information.
I've created a Graph Template that includes all of the data sources from the Data Query (i.e. both throughput and status data sources), but I've only created the graph to include the throughput statistics.
When I created graphs for the MDS devices the RRD files were created and these now include values for all data sources, i.e. port throughput values and port status values.
Is there any way to create an additional graph template for the Port Status based on these existing RRD files that have already been created? The information is already contained in the RRD file so I'm trying to avoid creating more RRD files just to contain the port status information. We have over 1000 FC ports across several MDS switches, so the fewer RRDs that are created the better!
Alternatively, is there any way to graph the Port Status on the existing Graph Template based on a second Y-Axis? As the Status value is always 1 or 2 (depending on whether it's up or down) this value is obviously several orders of magnitude less than the throughput values which can be up to 200000000 (i.e. 200MB/sec)...I could always use a CDEF to convert the port status to an equivalent number, but this seems too 'messy'...I'm hoping there's a cleaner way to do this.
I've had a browse around the forums and can't find anything related to this problem, so I'm either not searching very well, or I'm trying to do something that's well known to be completely impossible, or I'm completely missing the obvious as it's a simple thing to do!
Either way, I'm hoping someone can point me in the same direction.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. Sorry if I've not explained things very well...happy to post screenshots if required.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Multiple graph templates from one RRD?
Currently, this is a known drawback and there's only a manual way to get rid of it (create graphs manually and associate each data source with the existing rrd file)cjlove72 wrote:Hi,

2nd y-axis is a new feature of rrdtool which is not yet supported with cacti.Alternatively, is there any way to graph the Port Status on the existing Graph Template based on a second Y-Axis? We'd like to grow in both areas, the first one seems most pressing to me.
