I was looking through the forums and found this old thread talking about using a perl script to get the DS0 active channels from logging into the router. I've been looking for an SNMP way do to this on and off for years. (no really, years) I have finally found the following two OID's recently and have made graphs to chart the DS0 usage.
1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3 - current active DS0's
1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.4 - high mark DS0's
It looks like a very new OID. I've got some gateways running 12.4(9)T1 that I think have a bug. (The values are always the same and I don't think we are using the full DS1 at 9:00 PM on a Tuesday.) But I also have several gateways running 12.4(24)T1 and they are working perfectly. Also, as a note to the old thread, these gateways are all MGCP gateways.
So, here's what I have. It's not pretty, but it works. Maybe one of you guru's at building templates can clean this up and make it easier to use. The other thing I'd really like to do is get it setup to where the polling interval is every minute rather than every 5.

- Graph using the current active DS0's as data source 1 and high mark as data source 2. (Note that I added the high mark later on, that's why it's only present in part of the graph.)

those oid's give me too high values...
ex. SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.10.19.1.1.9.1.3.0.0 = Gauge32: 3549
my router is a Cisco 2811

edit:
I have noticed, that for each in/out call this counter is being increased by two. After the hangup it is being decreased by 1.
Is that normal? Is there a way to have a counter of the active channels via snmp ?
