Make sure the host supports snmp, apply the patches at the official web site for 0.8.7e, and try again. Then, also, if the host supports snmp, make sure the OID's are present by walking the OID tree from the Cacti host.

the host has snmp installed version is
NET-SNMP version: 5.3.2.2
I have applied the patches and tried again, still no difference.
i have done snmpwalk and that worked
snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 172.16.0.1
the template that i am using is a generic snmp enabled template. does that affect anything?
Also could the net-snmp verison have anything to do with this?

Make sure that the individual OID's are snmpget'able. You should post a verbose query and then review your apache error_log and post that too.

Re: This data query returned 0 rows
Hi, I am experiencing the same problem and a little confused about why snmp.conf was a problem.
I have identified that the bit underlined and bold was the problem.
/usr/bin/php -q /var/www/cacti/scripts/ss_host_cpu.php 149.6.126.218 2 2:161:500:1:5:ClMb_ro_STR:::::: query index
Run the full command from console and ... nothing, remove ":1:5" and it works fine.
Do you know what these parameters are actually doing? It is clearly a configuration issue, but not sure exactly what.
BTW there is no snmp.conf, just snmpd.conf and I don't that is the problem

RE:This data query returned 0 rows
This problem (for me) is now fixed.
Within the host_cpu.xml and host_disk.xml, additional parameters were being included.
<arg_prepend>|host_hostname| |host_id| |host_snmp_version|:|host_snmp_port|:|host_snmp_timeout|:|host_ping_retries|:|host_max_oids|:|host_snmp_community|:|hos
t_snmp_username|:|host_snmp_password|:|host_snmp_auth_protocol|:|host_snmp_priv_passphrase|:|host_snmp_priv_protocol|:|host_snmp_context|</arg_prepend>
Removing these parameters resolved the problem.
I hope this is helpful for some else
