Monitoring Linux / Unknown

This is my first install and instance of Cacti. I'm just trying to add a linux host to monitor using a simple ICMP ping. The application is installed correctly. I can ping the monitored host from the CACTI server. There are no firewalls in between.

HOwever, I see the following errors:

ICMP ping Timed out
Status is unknown

I can ping fine from the command line.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ping is a special thingy as it required special permissions when run in that way.
It is recommended to use SNMP. See 1st link of my sig for more help
