Hi guys, i recently saw the cacti tool in a customer location and decided to implement it for some other customers. So i first used a vmware based RHEL 4.7 and installed cacti 0.8.6x and it worked well. Nice work developers.
Since i'm a networking guy i want to monitor Cisco devices often. So i decide to implement latest cacti, 0.8.7e. So i created a CentOS5.3 vmware instance and installed 0.8.7e.
I can monitor the interfaces for 5 minute intervals. But i wonder during/after which step the .rrd file is created. Can any1 explain this pls.
Thanks.
.rrd file generation

You attach graphs to devices in the web interface. That updates the SQL database. The poller runs every 5 minutes, collects a tasklist from the SQL database and creates any necessary .rrd files before updating them with collected data.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
