I was able to add a few network devices yesterday, however when I just tried adding a VPN concentrator I received a message at the top of the page:
Error: Passwords do not match, please retype.
I'm not sure which password its referring to.
Fresh install running Ubuntu 9.04 and installed the default cacti package 0.8.7b.

Firefox 3 is the issue
This issue seems to be related to Firefox version 3. I tried IE and didn't receive the error messages. Interesting...

All that is going on here is that some browsers think they are clever to fill in the first SNMPv3 password field with your site password. So when you change other data and press save, the second password field doesn't match the first one - hence the message.
The simple solution is to delete whatever the browser put in that password field. The fun part is that Cacti only shows the field very briefly unless you are using SNMPv3, so the field is hidden, but filled in (I think). Try choosing SNMPv3, delete the PW, then back to whatever SNMP you normally use.
Probably a better fix would be to rename the field - they don't do it on ALL password-style fields.

Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Thanks for the info Howie
Thanks for the information Howie. When I added a new device using Firefox 3.5 I had to choose SNMP Version - Version 3 as you sugested and cleared the prestored password. Then choose SNMP Version - Verison 2 and used my V2 community string which worked fine. I would have expected such an annoyance from IE.
