installing CACTI on windows

Post by vishh_champ »

Hello everyone,

I want to use CACTI on windows. I have installed Appserv as i need Apache, Mysql, PHP.
I read an intallation guide for installing CACTI in which the path suggested for installing apache, mysql, php is given as C:\apache, C:\php, C:\mysql.
But Appserv installs all of them under a subfolder C:\Appserv\ by default.

I want to know whether installing all of them under subfolder Appserv would create a problem.

I have installed Appserv.so it installs apache, mysql, php in the C:\Appserv folder
extracted the netsnmp in the C:\net-snmp folder
extracted the rrdtool in the C:\rrdtool folder
extracted the cacti in the C:\appserv\www\cacti folder

Am i goin right with the installation. If not pls guide me with the complete installation. If right what to do next. Pls give the stepwise procedure

That will be fine. Just don't have spaces in the path for where cacti's web files reside.

cacti on windows(getting error)

Post by vishh_champ »

I continued with the installation and moved on to the next part & created a database named cacti.

Now when i type type in http://localhost/cacti in the web browser i get an error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_magic_quotes_gpc() in C:\AppServ\www\cacti\include\global.php on line 133

what do u mean by that and how to solve the problem.

also i would like to ask that the way it can be used in conjunction with MRTG, can it be used with PRTG also.

mrtg/prtg are completely separate and don't normally use a web server so they'll be fine with cacti.

What instructions are you using to install cacti? I strongly recommend the ones linked in my signature.

make sure you only have ONE copy of php.ini on your system. Search for it. Also make sure the following two things are set in php.ini:
register_argc_argv = On
safe_mode = Off
