Hi!
I updated cacti from 0.8.5a to 0.8.6 without problems except this one.
Cacti marks localhost as down. The box don't haves an snmp daemon so I changed the Poller settings for use PING instead of SNMP. I tested with ICMP ping and with UDP ping and localhost continues marked as down.
The box answers correctly to the ping
XxX[root:~]# ping XxX
PING XxX (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.0 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.0 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.0 ms
Someone could help me a bit.
Thanks for read!

Make sure that you don't have an SNMP community for localhost. Cacti is aware of the SNMP Community.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

1) Make Sure Availability Method is SNMP Ping Only
2) For hosts that don't support either ping or SNMP, clear the community string for those hosts.
