equallogic san?

Yeah it is a bit of a pain this. I find the quickest way is to just generate the MRTG config on the SAN and get the info from there.
Steps to achieve this are as follows;
1. Telnet into your SAN
2. Type 'mrtg-config'
3. FTP into your SAN
4. Set the local dir you want to save the file with the 'lcd' command
5. Download the mrtg.cfg you just generated using the 'get' command.
6. Open the mrtg.cfg file in notepad and you should see your SAN's unique identifier listed near the end of each target definition.
7. Go into Cacti and edit each EqualLogic SAN data template.
8. Update each OID field with the unique identifier we found in step 6.
9. Do the same for each SAN data template until all OID's have been updated.
That shoudl be it. Now just set up the device & graphs as usual.
For some reason Cacti states an 'SNMP error' on the device screen, but it still graphs content ok.
Let me know if you're still having issues.

Awesome! We just got an EqualLogic SAN, and these worked perfectly.
To find the OID to use, I didn't have to log into the SAN itself...
From my Cacti box, I simply issued the following:
And it listed my SAN. The long number near the end was my OID.
I then opened the cacti_host_template_equallogic_san_1_584.xml file in my favoured editor, and did a search for 292008857, and replaced with 330324393.
I reimported the template, and voilá, adding the datasources now pointed at my SAN.
We only have one, so it was simple, otherwise I guess just rince-and-repeat using the "san 2" and "san 3" templates.

Ahh good call - that's definately an easier way to get the SAN OID! Thanks
Its also worth noting that the v4 SAN firmware from EqualLogic no longer provides the 'SES' temperature over SNMP, so it's probably worth removing that from the graph template. It's not defined in their SAN HQ app either, so clearly has been dropped.

I just posted a complete Host template for Dell Equallogic SAN groups.
See http://docs.cacti.net/usertemplate:host ... logicgroup for screenshots en information.
This host template does not require manual editing of OID's and also works with SAN groups composed of multiple members.

Re: equallogic san?
Hi,
Got the template to work no problems on a group with 3 members but our other EQL boxes in remote offices with only one member just come up with "SNMP error" (yes, checked the obvious
Also I'm not seeing the temp and fan speed, we're on the last of the 4.x firmware so perhaps it's been dropped?
any ideas?
Thanks
Ray
