Export graphs and Classical Presentation

Post by terry »

Hello.

I'm using cacti-0.8.7e. I have a problem with exporting graphs. I have many graphs, but I want to export only few of them.
So, in Graph Templates, I unchecked Allow Graph Export and checked Use Per-Graph Value.

In Graph Management, I checked Allow Graph Export for few graphs, and unchecked for the others.

However, when I go the the page with exported graphs (I export them with Local Path method), I see all my graphes. I rm -rf all my files in the folder, but after 5 minutes, all my graphes are exported here.

On the other hand, in Settings -> Graph Export, when I select Tree Presentation, only my selected graphes are exported. So, with this presentation, it works.
When I select Classical Presentation, all my graphs are exported.

That's a problem because I don't want Tree Presentation in my exorted graphs pages.

Is it a bug?

Regards,
terry

Please try http://www.cacti.net/download_patches.php first. Open a bug if it does not help

Graph Export FTP PHP In Classic View Not Working

Post by cactithorn »

Sorry about this misplaced post. I'm just getting acquainted with this frontend. I've opened a new post. Thanks! cactitthorn

I've used the Configuration -> settings -> Graph Export parameters to configure graphs to be exported to a remote ftp server. The export method is set to FTP (remote) - use php functions, Presentation Method is set to Classical Presentation, Single Tree Representation, Effective User Name is admin, Expand Tree Hosts is Off, Thumbnail settings are defaults, Export Directory is /home/excelsw/cacti. I've tried 5 minute default timing as well as hourly on the hour. I've configured Santize, my FTP host IP address, port is default, Passive mode is selected, FTP user is anonymous, a password is set like my ftp expects.

I tested ftp manually and my ftp log sees the session. But with the above saved, there is never any indication of an ftp. I don't see any logs in cacti.log reflecting activity or problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am honestly not feeling very supported by this product. Yes, I'm still fairly new to this site, but it's been since August since I posted this problem and have heard nothing. I'm at a point where I don't expect to hear anything because I don't think anyone really combs through these postings very thoroughly. If I receive something, then great. If not, I've already notified a major vendor, who has integrated this code into their product, about the lack of support. I'm sure they are reevaluating the use of it due to this experience. I hope you get an answer at least. Best of luck.

Graph export is not the most loved part of the code. Honestly, it's not the part I know of. So a bug report is requested as stated above; see http://www.cacti.net/bugs.php to at least track this issue. As I know that one of us just caught a problem in that area, there's a chance he might tackle yours as well.

Unfortunately, we are using Cacti in production for our monitoring. I have to downgrade to version 0.8.6 because the export function is not working. This is not really what I expected from the latest version, but I have no other choice...

Hurra, it works !
Just replace the file lib/graph_export.php from the version 0.8.6j to the same directory in your Cacti install (version 0.8.7e), and only your selected graphs will be exported.
For me it works, maybe you can try Cactihorn

That's a good workaround. But it ignores the permission validation added lately. I agree, that this might be an acceptable drawback for you.
