Newbie stuck in configuration

Post by setcookie »

Hi,

im new to this and stuck already. i have installed cacti as explained here:

http://www.nwlab.net/tutorials/cacti/ca ... orial.html

i m not using snmp but followed the tutorial from step one. my cronjob on the poller is running. path are all set. the cacti log is accesible. but i dont see no data comming in, but this in the log file:

08/13/2009 03:44:54 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 292 seconds exceeded. Exiting.
08/13/2009 03:44:54 PM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:292.9737 Method:cmd.php Processes:1 Threads:N/A Hosts:3 HostsPerProcess:3 DataSources:10 RRDsProcessed:0

also in the poller-error.log i see this:

sh: /php: No such file or directory
sh: /rrdtool: No such file or directory

so far im not using spine

what could be the problem

thx

RRDTool Binary Path NOT FOUND
PHP Binary Path NOT FOUND

but i have installed and compiled the latest rrdtool build which now resides under: /usr/local/rrdtool-1.3.8/bin/rrdtool. but when i pass the path in the cacti settings dialog nothin happes. still not found. what is missing

hm if i do this, i get this:

Code: Select all

whereis rrdtool
rrdtool: /bin/rrdtool /usr/bin/rrdtool /usr/X11R6/bin/rrdtool /usr/bin/X11/rrdto ol /usr/share/man/man1/rrdtool.1.gz
so i have put a symbolic link into /usr/bin/rrdtool but that doesnt help. and this here is also strange:

ERROR: Installed RRDTool version does not match configured version.
Please visit the Configuration Settings and select the correct RRDTool Utility Version.

but the version i selected is 1.3.x. and if i check the console with #rrdtools its says 1.3.8 so no problem here.

im stuck :(

# rrdtool --help

paste output

Your system says /bin/rrdtool is a correct path. You have something messy going on sounds like an odd install problem.
