So if you really "life for the beauty of a graph" consider making the rrdtools alpha-blend (transparency) feature available from cacti as an additional "Graph Template Items"->"Graph Item Type"->"Blending 50%" or "Transparency 50%" not only the "Opacity/Alpha Channel" settings .
(Hope this was constructive enough to encourage the developers.)

We have this for the colors section in the Graph Template already, so long as you are on 0.8.7. Is that your release? Also, you must be on RRDtool 1.2.x or better (of course).
