Some graphs work, some don't :(

Post by BenyBen »

Hi,
I've been trying to make heads or tails of this...

I created a host using the host template win2k/xp, and it successfully got mounted partition and cpu information. I then created graphs for the Cpus, hd paritions and network interface that cacti found.

The problem is, only the the graph for my network interface has data. The rest DO show up, but with "nan".

I know this isn't an issue with the host, since this information is already being monitored by Nagios.
When I run my cmd.php manually, I get a bunch of errors like this:
36406377984
:...R: expected 2 data source readings (got 0) from text/html
: command not found
sh: line 3: 3838539264:Content-type:: command not found
: command not found
sh: line 5: 36406377984: command not found
update /var/www/html/cacti/rra/webcss6_hdd_total_9.rrd --template hdd_total:hdd_used N:Content-type: text/html

145661448192:Content-type: text/html
Can anyone help me? Thanks

This is a new install. Only 2 hosts, Localhost (to which all graphs work fine)
and another host, which partially works (only network graph works).

I tried adding another hosts to make sure it wasn't a problem with this host, but no success there either.

11 graphs
12 data sources

Start over, but use Cacti 0.8.6. I can help you much better with that version of the product. Follow the link to obtain. Even though it say's beta, don't believe it. I suggest you do a complete reinstall. Blow away your database and start from scratch.

Hi There,
I did as you said. Dropped the current database, and I installed it 0.8.6

Again, same phenomenon, all the graphs for localhost are created, but for other hosts, only the network graph works. The rest are created, but display as NAN

Here's some info:
-I am runing it as root, to make sure there is no permission issue
-cmd.php was not working, but after seeing a suggestion from you to use poller.php in another thread, I have done so.

some outputs from poller.php

Maybe there is a problem with SNMP on the client server's end (win2k) though I AM monitoring diskpace on this server with nagios.

Upgrade your PHP to 4.3.8 CLI and try again. You are correct. You must run poller.php and not cmd.php in 0.8.6. This is very important.

You can run cmd.php from the command line, but your graphs will not update. I am very interested to see your output with 4.3.8.

I've been trying that a bit this weekend. I seem to have a problem installing it becasue it cannot find APXS within Apache.

IS APXS required with Cacti?

Don't know. I run PHP 5.1 on my development box and 4.3.8 at the office. I have no problems with either. I also am running Apache 2.50

Alright, this has been a long time I know, but I finally manage to get some time to spend on this box. I simply upgraded red hat to FC2, with Apache 2 and PHP 5. Now everything works.
