I noticed a 'bad' behaviour on Cacti.
When retrieving the interface list on a particulair device, there seems to be a default timeout.
If I add a host with the right com string, not all interfaces are listed. This happens most of my tries to build a proper interface list. Mostly 10 to 20 interfaces (lower numbers first) appears.

I manage to collect the data from the right interfaces by adding them in the table by hand. (doing a snmpwalk by hand and find the proper ifindexes)

Sort of a stab in the dark, but you may want to make sure the 'max_execution_time' variable in php.ini is set appropriatly. If a script runs for longer than that time; it is killed.

Not sure if I understand what you are asking... Putting the interface index numbers in by hand should work. But there is an easier way to do this if you are going to go this route.

Forgetting the 'SNMP Interfaces' section for a moment, add a new data source with the data input type of 'SNMP Network Data'. Then you can specify any one of (MAC Address, IP Address, Interface Number, and Interface Description). This may be a little easier than getting all of the index numbers. But if changing php's max execution time works, that would be best.
