Unable to create data source

Post by Svavark »

Hi there

I have managed to get Cacti up and running and gotten a few graphs displayed so all seems well.

But I am following the cacti pdf manual capter 16.1 and I manged to create data input but when I am creating the datasource and click save I get "Error: Save Failed" error in red on top of the page.
In the cacti log file I get
"07/15/2009 04:03:07 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: There are no RRA's assigned to local_data_id: 22. "

I was running 0.8.7d but updated to 0.8.7e this morning but still get the same error.

Since I already have 13 rrd files created I am pretty sure it is not ntfs permissions

So what is happening

Svavar
NB my test system is running on XP innstallation, where is get this error, my production system is Win2k3

This story continues...

After I got this error I went back to the list of datasources and I noticed a new datasource - but without a name so I ran "reapply Suggested Names" action on the new datasource.
And everything looked good.

But now I am stuck at Add Item to graph (on page 54 in the manual)
The list for data sources is empty - My data source should be in the drop down list-

An now I am really stuck

1) you have lots of plugins enabled? if so, disable them all and try again.
2) the cacti technical support page show any errors?

Hi I have now tryed this on my production system - freshly installed Win2003 fully patched.
My Cacti install is plain install right by the manual, no extra plugins

the error I get when creating the datasource is
CMDPHP: Poller[0] ERROR: There are no RRA's assigned to local_data_id: 23.

BTW when I click save Data source path box does not get filled in by cacti

When I list the datasources I have a new row with no name - but I can run reapply... and it works. and Data source path box gets populated. "<path_rra>/ds_23.rrd" but the file is not created

I can then follow the manual until I get to the point to select data source from list, The list is blank.

I include the Technical support report

Hope to hear from you

1) What data source are you creating manually?

2) Have you tried creating graphs via the 'Create Graphs for this Host' link for a device?

Never ever attach word documents to the forum. Always outline your problem in the posts and attach images if needed.

There are already numerous scripts in the script/template forum for SNMP informant. Additionally, there are other Windows WMI scripts to monitor all of those disk statistics you're interested in. I suggest you check them out.

For your rand script, you didn't create a data template or graph template which uses your script's Data Input Method.
