cacti monitor netscaler 7.0 that traffic more than 100M ?

Post by zdsec »

hi , i have one problem with the cacti monitor the traffic on netscaler

my netscaler's OS is 7.0, and the traffic have beyond 200M

so the cacti can't display the traffic correctly

i have try to use net-snmp V2 & 64-bit counters for cisco devices with high traffic, but this solution didn't work for netscaler, some guys say that netscaler 7.0 don't support 64-bit counters, only netscaler 8.0 or higher support 64-bit counters

do you have any idea on this ?

thanks very much !

Poll them at 1 minute and keep the rest of the system at 5 minutes. This means you need a new template. Don't modify the existing ones. This is a current limitation with Cacti. But not a big deal if you know what you are doing.

Well that's a interesting comment for sure. However, what you do is set your poller interval to 1 minute and your cron to 1 minute as well. Keep all your Data Templates the same.

Then repopulate your poller cache. This will evenly distribute your polling on a per minute basis accross each minute.

Next create a new Data Query/Graph Template collection for your device and set the Step to 60 and the Heartbeat to something larger, say 120.

By taking that last step, you are saying that you want to poll this device every minute. By doing so, you will have provided yourself a max of around 625mbs on a 32bit counter.

hi TheWitness:

thanks very much for your info

but i have one more question,

i'm monitor cisco router, netscaler in one cacti,

is there a way to set the interval for cisco router to 5 minutes, and set the interval for netscaler to 1 minutes

i have so many cisco router, firewall , netscaler in this cacti, if set the inverval to 1 minute for all network devices, i think my cacti server can't afford it

thanks !

One you set the poller interval, repopulate the poller cache and watch it.

You must note that if you poller intervals one minute, that one the poller cache is repopulated, polling will still be a 5 minutes for all DS. Just staggered.
