Historical Graph Data - not as granular!

I have a running Cacti server, up and running for over 6 months. My issue/problem is whenever I look back on any graph, the historical data is not as granular as normal daily/weekly graphs.

Is there anything I can do - or is this normal? I would like to have data, say 4 months ago that can tell me exactly what was going on over the 5 minute refresh periods - like a normaly daily graph?

this is due to rrdtool consolidation. http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:8_rrdtool#rrdtool yes, can the history can be increased -- going forward.

Thanks BSOD2600, for the link - I must admit it looks a bit like rocket science.

I get the gist of what the link is saying - but do I need to do some perl programming or graph template changes myself? or is there a setting?

Well once you change the default rrd settings in cacti (rows, timespans, etc) then NEW files will have the increased history. Older files can be 'fixed' too, but that requires running 'rrdtool tune' and obviously the data is already gone from the past.

Naw, search around the rrdtool websites / mailing lists. Others have already written scripts. IF you do end up writing one, post it so others can use it...
