Difference Between global.php and config.php

Post by ratabora »

Hey all,

I am having some difficulties installing the threshold and settings plugins (I got monitor to work) and while I am trying to figure this all out I am finding that in the plugin installation guide there is reference to change global.php to have the correct plugin array, and then later referencing config.php.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two files? And which one should have the array in it? What I have figured until now is that config.php should not be touched (even though Ive seen it referenced around in the forums as needing to be altered) and global.php being edited for the new plugins.

After a long while of pounding my head against this I found out that Plugin Architecure Manager was not showing up because I didn't import the mysql file pa.sql to the cacti.sql database. After doing so, plugin management came up and (without altering the global.php file manually) I was able to install and enable thold through the plugin management page.

Although, I did have to use the old way of installing plugins (altering the global.php file) to install monitor, settings, and mactrack.
